Improving Your Mood and Attitude Without Drugs
Believe it or not, but exercise is one of the best ways to improve your mood and relieve stress. I wasn’t completely sold until I started a regular exercise program. Since starting I feel more energetic and have a better outlook on life. Actually there is a natural chemical reaction that takes place when you exercise. The brain releases endorphins that help improve your mood. Sure you can get these same types of results by popping a pill, but what fun would that be?
It really doesn’t take a lot to make your mood improve. It’s not necessary to spend money on a gym. Exercise can be done in many different ways. You can do things like wash your car or do some gardening. This also has the benefit of not only relieving stress and improving mood, but also you get things done that you might have been putting off.
Gardening is an especially great stress reliever. It’s nice to be outside, get some fresh air, and listen to nature. You can plant some flowers or vegetables. Taking care of your garden and yard will give you a sense of accomplishment. You’ve seen those beautiful yards with gorgeous flowers and green grass. You would be amazed how much you can accomplish if you just spend an hour or two a day.
Another advantage to doing activities outdoors is the fact that sunshine provides your body with vitamin D. This vitamin is known to improve mood. You don’t want to spend so much time in the sun that you get burned, but when you go out early morning or in the evening when you can stay out a little longer the benefits can be extremely beneficial.
What more can you ask for than getting out for a little exercise. You will improve your physical and psychological outlook on life. A more active lifestyle is important in so many ways. So if you’re feeling a little blue why not go out and give it a try. You certainly won’t regret it. In fact you might surprise yourself and find that you really enjoy it.
